Safeguarding
Protecting our children and staff
Positive Footsteps believes that every child has a right to feel safe and free from harm. We understand safeguarding is everyones responsibility and a child’s needs are paramount, regardless of age or ability. All staff are trained to recognise the signs and symptoms of abuse.. Positive Footsteps offer appropriate support and are able to sign post to external agencies when required.
Equality Act
Equality for everyone
Our aim is that Positive Footsteps will be truly representative of all sections of society and that each child and young person feels respected and able to give their best. We seek to provide equality and fairness for all.

Mental well-being
The tools to self-regulate
At Positive Footsteps we aim to assist all our children and young people in gaining the tools to look after their mental well-being. We hope they can build a strong resilience to deal with life's obstacles. Resilience can be a form of protection for a child or young person , as it allows them to develop good social skills and positive self-esteem.
Therapeutic Care
Building human capitol
We adopt a therapeutic model of care within our homes. All staff will receive a PACE training, which enables them to keep the therapeutic parenting model ‘live’ within the home. The therapeutic parenting approach helps carers to emotionally connect with the children and young people in ways that increases feelings of safety and security.
PACE practice can be beneficial for all children and young people but are key in caring for those who have experienced neglect, abuse, significant developmental trauma, and disrupted attachments in their early years. A more specialised approach that encompasses the principles of Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy (PACE) forms the basis of the care provided.
